The mission of this website
Throughout the history of York County, Pa., there have been many women who have made an impact on the community. While York County historians are working hard to preserve history, there remains more to be done with women's history. This website gives a platform where you can learn stories of York County women from the 1700's to the modern-day.

Bringing history into now
There are countless women within York County who are working towards making the community a better place. They use what they are passionate about to guide them in making a positive impact. Below is a highlight video of six influential modern women. These women and many more may one day go down in the history books for their contributions to York County.
"History has shown us that courage can be contagious and hope can take on a life of its own."
- Michelle Obama
How this project was possible
This website is run in conjunction with the York County History Center. They were able to provide a platform that is accessible and well-known throughout the York community. A special thanks to Parthena Bowman and Nicole Smith for advising on this project. Jim McClure provided many resources. For the video portion, Randy Flaum provided video equipment and helped with editing. The women interviewed are Cheryl Huber, Susan Byrnes, Sandra Hemphill, Kris Pollick, Edquina Washington and Delma Rivera. They provided many of the pictures within the video. Without the help and support of these people, this would not have been possible.
